‘Walk the Line’ for Northern Lights Children’s Charity

By 27th July 2018October 17th, 2023No Comments

On Saturday 22nd September we’ll be taking on a challenge to walk the 15-mile London Underground Circle Line route in aid of Northern Lights Children’s Charity. We’re remote workers who are scattered across the country, so we’ll be travelling from north, south, east and west to meet up at Kings Cross to start our challenge, which will include passing 27 of the 35 Circle Line stations along the way.

Our team is a mixed bunch – some of us are fit and healthy, and some limited by health conditions but as a team we’ll pull together and make it! Because, the big thing we have in common is that we’re extremely proud of our colleague Karen Jones MBE, who’ll also be taking part. She’s Chairperson and one of the founders of the amazing Northern Lights Children’s Charity, which was set up in 1987. Karen was also awarded her MBE by Her Majesty the Queen on 1st June to honour her services to the charity, which makes this challenge extra special.

Northern Lights Children’s Charity takes children, aged six to eleven, with life-limiting illnesses on a very special holiday to Lapland, to meet Father Christmas.  This amazing experience gives children a positive goal to look forward to, a break from their treatment and an escape from being perceived as sick. The holiday also helps them to grow in confidence, rebuild their self-esteem and social skills, and reduce their anxiety. Post-holiday, the children are more independent and eager to participate in other ventures.

Our team is super excited to be able to get together in person, take on a challenge, and help some deserving children to have a memorable and life-changing Christmas experience in Lapland. We’d be so appreciative if you could help to support this amazing cause by sponsoring us – thank you! Sponsor Us.
